Supplemented Foods Label

December 8, 2024

In 2022 Canada announced final regulations to amend the Food and Drug Regulations 9FDR) to establish detailed conditions for the use of supplemental ingredients in food. As part of these conditions, supplemented foods will be required to carry a Supplemented Food Facts table (SFFt) that provides information on each of the supplemental ingredients added to them. An additional front of pack call out is also required. The new regulatory requirements are complex, and the food industry has until January 1,2026 to become compliant.

To date, the federal department has developed the following guidance and documentation for suppliers navigating these changes:

·  Dedicated supplemented foods webpage

·   A Guidance document for supplemented foods regulations

·  Templates for label designers

·  General information about supplemented foods
